INTERNATIONAL SOS CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY

International SOS is celebrating International Nurses Day by donating to the NHS to thank them for their hard work and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jennifer Chan, Senior COVID-19 Response Nurse from International SOS, presented the donation to Fiona Mitchell, Nurse Manager, at the Specialist Older Adults & Rehabilitation Services ward at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen.

Laura Kennedy, Head of Nursing at International SOS, said, “International Nurses Day is a global celebration that acknowledges and celebrates the commitment and bravery of nurses around the world.

“This year’s theme – nursing the world back to health – is particularly important as it brings a special focus on the true value nurses provide.

“The global pandemic has highlighted the crucial role that nurses play in keeping people healthy across the lifespan, and so the day is focused on the future of healthcare.”

International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12th May every year, which is also the anniversary of the birth of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale.

This year's celebration is even more special as 2021 has been marked as the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, as it is the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.
